I had a great time in the studio back in March with my a cappella vocal group, In Transit. It’s always a blast to do a vocal session, but directing a session in addition to singing is even better in some ways because it challenges my noggin and works my other skills as a musician and producer.
I’m really excited about how the demo turned out. The editing and mixing process was a lot of fun. We did some sweetening and recording of clap tracks (and a whole mess of fun stuff for the Stevie Wonder tune). Sweet goodness! Special thanks to Martin (our tenor) for his master editing chops in ProTools!
I just finished recording vocals for two songs by film composer Thomas Rydell. The jazzy Vegas-themed songs will be featured in an upcoming documentary starring Ugly Betty’s Rebecca Romijn.
And no, it’s not what you think. It’s a film about a Bellagio fountain project, people!
I just completed another vocal session with film composer Marc Ellis and a voiceover spot for Biotene. Working with Marc and Patrick is always a good time!
I just finished recording voiceover for the first of a series of commercial spots for Biotene Dry Mouth dental products. It was a fun session with plenty of water to stay hydrated! They take care of you at Genius Monkeys.
What a busy year it’s been so far! I’m rehearsing with former Taffeta co-stars in preparation for my upcoming show, The Chantillys. We’re rehesarsing 6 days a week, and I have to admit, my back is starting to feel the pain from all the dancing! Throw in the singing on top of that, and my lung capacity is increasing exponentially!!
I’ve also been busy doing vocal sessions around town. I recently worked with Chantillys musical director Paul Taylor, and television composer Dick DeBenedictis, who scored groovy TV shows from the 70s like Matlock, Columbo, Perry Mason, and Hawaii Five-O.
Most recently, I did a session with composer Brian Woodbury where I recorded lead vocals as surfer chick Marina in his original show Killa Vanilla.
We just came out of Latte Mix Studios in Santa Monica where we’re cutting a demo. Special thanks to Adrienne and Susan for their hard work in the engineering booth. Rock on, ladies!

Who knew? Award-winning Hollywood film and TV director, Michael Lange, is also into producing Jewish parody albums. I was invited to sing lead soprano on Michael’s holiday album “Kosher Christmas Carols” in a fun rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus (“We Will Sue Ya”) and as the haunting voice of Tiffany Greenstein.
